Ordnance Survey

Field Work

This was my third collaboration with Neil O’Connor on his continuing series of annual Ordnance Survey albums. This time around the concept was borne out of lockdown restrictions. The album is intended as a musical travelogue of places in Dublin that were/are of particular significance to Neil and, seeing as he couldn't visit them in person, how he attempted to recreate their essence through music and field recordings, hence the album title.

For the cover, I simply attempted to represent this idea visually by collaging various found elements that had significance, directly or obliquely, to each location referenced in the track titles. To reflect Neil’s working methods, these elements were obtained by me through research and photography or from previously existing archival material.

I also made a video for the single, “Vico Road, July 1984”.
